AS91502 Examine a current physical activity event, trend, or issue...
AS91499 Analyse a physical skill...
We have experience in supervising four Level 3 Physical Education Achievement Standards. Together these are worth 15 credits (the requirement for University Entrance is 14 credits in each of three approved subjects. PE is an approved subject)
AS91501, "Perform a physical activity..." is assessed by way of video. We have found this to be a good unit to complete at summer school.
AS91500 "Evaluate the effectiveness of a Performance Improvement Programme" is very good to complete over summer school as athletes hit the gym before Xmas with the aim of increasing size and strength.
AS91502 "Examine a current physical activity event, trend, or issue and its impact on New Zealand society" is an opportunity for students to get their teeth into something that they have an opinion about. In 2019 students looked at Israel Folau's Instagram posts, and at the use of supplements in first fifteen rugby. The report students write for this standard can be edited to become one of the pieces required for the English writing portfolio.
AS91499 "Analyze a physical skill performed by self or others" provides an opportunity for athletes to learn about the function of muscles and joints and how they work in sequence to execute a physical skill.
